After several weeks of action-packed auditions, Pinoy Idol will hold its first ever elimination round. All are keeping their fingers crossed as only 90 out of 175 hopefuls will be given the chance to continue in the running towards becoming the ultimate Pinoy Idol!
These remaining aspirants who came from different places of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao each had their amusing life stories told on national television. Now, will those stories include having their golden ticket to stardom? ? most especially now as they must eagerly and earnestly prove once more that they are not just willing, but very willing and rightfully able as well.
Pinoy Idol is the second franchise of Idol series in the Philippines (the word Pinoy is the colloquial form of the word Filipino).
GMA Network promoted Pinoy Idol as "the first Idol competition in the Philippines" during its New Year's Eve 2007 Presentation, and does not recognize Associated Broadcasting Company's Philippine Idol and its winner Mau Marcelo. It is hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, with Ogie Alcasid (singer, songwriter, and record producer), Jolina Magdangal (singer and actress), and Wyngard Tracy (retired talent manager) as judges. The winner will receive P1 million, a house and lot, brand new car, a recording contract with Sony BMG Music Philippines, a television contract with GMA Network among other prizes.
